Baroque architecture began in the late 16th century in Italy and is a wonder in itself. The well-defined architectural style with a rich combination of light, figurative structure with curves, emotional intensity, and shadow is worth watching. Italy, the birthplace of baroque architecture, comprises some awesome monuments and buildings that were built around 200 to 300 years ago but still feels fresh and classy. One such place includes the Sicilian city of Noto. Although this place was severely damaged by the earthquake, it maintained its grace and beauty. The entire town is built in a baroque style and is recognized as the UNESCO world heritage site. This revolves around the Cathedral of San Nicolo.

We can’t get enough of the baroque beauty of Spain, especially the jaw-dropping surprise of the Praza do Obradoiro. This traditional yet super awesome place is the nicest blend of Romanesque, Baroque, and Gothic architecture and is one of the unique places to witness. This place is nothing less than a pilgrim and one has to travel many routes to reach this place. On completing the entire journey you also get a certificate confirming it.

Another monument in Spain of baroque architecture includes Madrid. You cannot visit Madrid and return without visiting The Royal Palace. This place is Europe’s one of the largest palaces and is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. The regal look of the palace comes from the square layout and exceptional baroque characteristics. The palace is home to some exquisite paintings, sculptures, and other monuments spread across 3400 rooms that are built from stucco, marble, and mahogany.

The winter Palace of Saint Petersburg will make you fall in love with it with its ultimate beauty and grand layout which cannot be expressed in words. This palace served as the official residence of Romanov monarchs from the 17th century to the mid-19th century. The structure was considerably altered by the successors which differ from its 17th-century appearance but the current architecture is also as beautiful as before.

Lisbon, Portugal is also widely known for the baroque architecture and the influence this style had on Portugal apart from the rest of the country. The churches here are built with the golden metal found in Brazil and reminds of the exceptionally beautiful architectural style. As this city is a Catholic city one can find the cathedral spread all over the place.

The defined lines, beautiful curves, use of the natural element, and manipulation of light bring some exceptional features out of this. Apart from all these places, baroque architecture had its influence on other famous places such as Ukraine, France, Serbia, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Russia, and other parts of the world.
